Our Farm & Produce

  1. Does everything in my veg box come from the farm?

During the year the majority of the vegetables in your box are grown by us. We grow a large range of crops and try to vary the contents from week to week as much as possible. Out-of-season, particularly in the late winter and spring, we supplement our boxes with produce from our suppliers in Hereford who have been working with us for 19 years. As a result, we are able to ensure you get the best quality at the best prices. The fruit and vegetables we buy in are always certified organically grown, and sourced from the UK, Europe and occasionally (in the case of fruit) from further afield.
The contents, and origin of the produce in our boxes is posted on our website every week.

  1. Can I choose what I have in my veg box? What are Veg swaps?

To offer the best value possible, we select what is in our boxes based on what we have in the field. Obviously, you may not like to like every vegetable so you can semi customise your box by giving you the option to select up to 3 vegetables you don’t want (Veg swaps) which we will substitute with something else of equivalent value. You can find your swap options on your account.

  1. Why don't you do swaps for the fruit bags?

Unfortunately, we can’t offer this option on fruit as we grow very little ourselves. The availability of organic fruit at a reasonable price is very limited so we would struggle to find substitutes at the same time keep the fruit bags good value.
However, there is the option to buy the fruit you want as a ‘box extra'

  1. Why aren't your eggs organic?

We don’t have the expertise (or the patience) to keep our own hens. It is hard to find Organic eggs wholesale locally, and in this case, we prefer local to organic. The eggs we sell through our boxes are free range, and come from Red House Farm at Winford, 6 miles from Bristol.
The farmer cares about the welfare and health of his birds and uses RSPCA standards. We have inspected their housing and they are happy healthy hens.

  1. Has any of the produce in my box been air-freighted?

Definitely not. Any produce which comes from further afield than the UK has always travelled by sea.

6. Where else can I buy your organic produce?

You can find us and our produce at Whiteladies Road Farmers Market every Saturday 8.30 - 1pm.

  1. What if I'm unhappy with the quality of some of the items I received?

We guarantee fresh high quality organic produce, so if you are unhappy with anything you receive in your veg box when it arrives, please let us know immediately and we will issue you a refund.

8. Where should I keep the contents of my box?

Your fruit and veg is grown organically so to keep it fresh for long as possible put it in the fridge. Organic produce is not treated with chemicals so it will deteriorate very quickly if you don’t.
The majority of produce we grow and buy in is kept in our cool stores, with the exception of tomatoes (putting them in the fridge kills the flavour!), squash and bananas.

  1. Are you certified organic?

Yes, we are. All the land we use to grow our crops are certified by the Soil Association.  We go through inspection and evaluation by a Soil Association inspection officer annually. Everything we use to grow and sell our produce is traceable - from seed, to planting, harvesting and, finally, to your doorstep. The veg and fruit we buy in is grown to the same organic standard, our suppliers and in turn their suppliers also go through a yearly inspection process.

Home Deliveries

  1. Which areas do you deliver to and on which days?

We deliver to Bristol, Pill and Portishead. You can check if your postcode is one we deliver to by clicking 'sign up'. Once you set up an account you can see which day your delivery will be.

  1. What time will my order be delivered?

Timings for home delivery vary depending on the number of customers per delivery run. The pick up point timings will be the same each week.

  1. Is there somewhere secure we can leave your box?

If you have a front garden or porch we will leave your box on the doorstep. However if your house/flat is directly on the Street we need a secure location (e.g. behind a bin or in the back garden/bike shed). If you live in a flat or apartment with a door or gate code we will need those. Please add this information in the delivery instructions when you create your order.

  1. What should I do with my empty box?

The night before your next delivery please leave your old box out in a bin liner and your driver will replace it with your new one! For environmental and economic reasons, we reuse the boxes for as long as possible.

5. What is the delivery charge?

We charge is £1 per customer per delivery, so no matter how much you order the charge is still £1.
